 Omega-6 essential fatty acids needs to be present in the body at a ratio of two to one to Omega-3 the other major player in Fatty Acids. In other words you need twice as much Omega-6 not that Omega-6 is twice as important as Omega-3. They are both important.

Omega-6 essential fatty acids produce series 1 Prostaglandins which is important. Series 1 Prostaglandins play an important role in the control of blood thickness and therefore blood pressure, has an anti-inflammatory effect and is an important nerve tissue food helping in the maintenance of brain and nerve function.

Evening Primrose oil, Borage, Safflower and Sunflower oil are the prime sources of Omega-6 but it is also present in sesame seeds, flaxseed, wheat germ oil and blackcurrant seeds.
