Also called the Spurge Olive the Daphne Mezereum shrub is native to Northern Europe and Asia. Called Mezereon by early European herbalists who used to strip the bark of the plant before blooming to treat skin disorders as a poultice or compress but modern herbalists regard the plant far too toxic and irritant to use with safety and its only medicinal use is confined to Homeopathy where it is relatively safe provided prepared and diluted appropriately.

Mezereum is primarily used for skin disorders but can also be prescribes to treat anxiety related digestive disorders and congestion.
