General description:
Mercury is extracted from cinnabar ore, which is found in volcanic rocks.
Commercially it is extracted for a variety of industrial purposes. Mercury is
used in thermometers and was at one stage a major ingredient in tooth
fillings.
Warning: Extreme care must be taken
wit mercury as it is toxic in even small doses.
Remedy preparation:
Pure mercury is dissolved in diluted nitric acid and the precipitate of
mercury so obtained is then triturated to make a soluble mother tincture.
History:
The use of mercury for medicinal purposes dates back to ancient times in
Egypt. Until the end of the nineteenth century it was used as a remedy for
syphilis and was only discontinued be cause of the high toxicity of the cure
that frequently causes fatality.
Remedy profile:
Used for conditions that cause excessive bodily secretions that are
fouls smelling, high fevers and extreme perspiration. Swollen glands, excessive
salivating, abscesses and ulcers may also be present. Symptoms tend to be worse
at night and patients are very sensitive to cold.
Key Symptoms:
Excessive and foul smelling bodily discharges (sweat, saliva, urine and
stools). Sweating, insecurity bordering on paranoia. Symptoms are worse at
night.
Used for treatment of:
Fever:
Excessive unpleasant smelling sweating and bad breath. May be accompanied by
intense headache and/or swollen glands.
Mouth and throat conditions:
Inflammation of gums and infected teeth, mouth ulcers, oral thrush (creamy,
cheesy patches) sore throat, tonsillitis, copious saliva discharge, bad breath,
accompanied by headaches and fevers.
Ear infections:
Painful ears with foul smelling discharge. Often accompanied by headaches and
fevers.
Colds and flus:
Constant coughing and sneezing, wet nose, throat and congested lungs with
unpleasant smelling discharge. Catarrh, fevers and headaches may also be
present.
Thrush:
Itchy, hot and burning vagina. Vaginal discharge often present with unpleasant
smell. In men symptoms are itchy, moist spots on penis with a smelly discharge.
Eye infections:
Conjunctivitis, allergic burning eyes with watery discharge and light
sensitivity.
